3 Ways to Improve Your Social Media (Part 2)

In our last post, we gave you three ways to improve the look of your social media profiles. But there is always more to learn and today we’re going to talk about the appearance of your page. So here we are, back to give you more ideas to get even better!

  1. Profile picture

When setting up a new social media profile, one of the first things they ask you is to upload a profile picture. What should it be? The possibilities are endless. Remember, this is the very first thing that people are likely to see. You want whatever it’s going to be represent you the best that it can and be easily identifiable. The best idea is to use your logo or some quickly identifiable element of it. You’ve already had the logo to design your brand and are satisfied with it. Keep it on a clean (preferably white) background. Using your logo also avoids any confusion visitors may have about the page they are one. Don’t forget to use the right size either or else the logo could get cut off or blurry.

2. Cover Photo

Now that someone recognized your logo and has clicked your name, they’re taken to your page. At the top banner is your cover photo (number 2 on the image above). This is where you can can creative. Anything can go here…your product, you working your craft, your building or office, or some other image that may highlight and represent your brand. When I’m creating cover photos, I like to use some element that represents the brand and add it to the color scheme of the brand. For example, in creating the cover photo for Dr. Trout Family Dentistry, I used a picture of Dr. Trout, a tooth, a background that matched his brand’s color scheme, and included the tag that Dr. Trout uses for his business. Again, remember that it is shaped to the right size or else it might get cut off or blurry.

3. Username

In addition to your page name, there is another way to identify your page. With Instagram and Twitter, selecting your username is the first thing you do when you create an account.

But with Facebook, you select your page name first. Your username is easily overlooked in the excitement of creating your page but it's important that you don’t forget it. The username is the name associated with the url on the website. For example, www.facebook.com is the website. www.facebook.com/44solutionsllc is the specific url to the 4/4 Solutions Facebook page. If you don’t select a username, Facebook generates one randomly. It could look like this: www.facebook.com/4-4-solutions-llc-04415608689. Your username makes it a lot easier for prospective visitors to find you. When you create a username, keep it as close to the page name as possible. If it’s too long, try to find simple ways to shorten it.

With any social media page, it’s important to keep in mind that there is no perfect page. These simple steps can help get your page to stand out against others. If you still need some help, 4/4 Solutions is here to help you get all of these elements in tip-top shape for you to start promoting!
