3 Ways To Improve Your Social Media (Part 1)
Ok, so you’ve taken our advice on why your business needs to be on social and started your page. Now what? There’s a lot that goes into social media. Regardless of what platform you are one, everything you post is a representation of you. It stands to reason that you should want to put your best foot forward on it. But where do you start and how do you make the most of your social media? Here are three basic tips that you can use to start improving your social media today.
Put a visual with your post
Put a picture, video, graphic, or whatever else you can think of with your post. You’d be surprised how many pages I find that use text only when they post. Why don’t you want to use just text? We are so inundated with things while we are scrolling, you have to do something to make someone stop scrolling. When you just do text, it’s too easy for the post to get lost in the posts before and after you. Not to mention, we are very visual people. When you have something to go with your post, especially if it is something unique, it increases the chances that your viewer will stop and see what you are posting.
Use Clear Pictures
Speaking of having a visual aid with your post, make sure that whatever it is, it’s clear and easy to view. If you are posting a picture, it has to be crystal clear. The great thing about this is that you don’t have to go out and hire an expensive photographer. We live in an age where most of us hold a supercomputer in our pockets all day. These smartphones have great cameras in them now. When doing your work, it’s never been easier to snap a good picture of what you are doing and share it. Each platform has their own preferred dimensions for an image to be so be sure if you are creating something, your main subject is not cut off.
Be Yourself
A lot of people have a problem with this and in today’s hyper-partisan world, rightfully so. It seems like every week there is someone in the news being discredited because of something they said online, even if it was years ago. But here is the thing- we buy from people we trust. You are the biggest proponent of your business and when you are personal, you are letting your followers get to know you.
Now, there are limits to this. Don’t be over-personal or make all of your posts personal. We live in a hyper-partisan world so be careful when it comes to posting your political views (unless that is what your business is about).
These few tips can go a long way to making it look like you are serious about the way that your business looks on social media. Remember to be yourself and have a crisp, clear visual to go with your posts. Eventually those efforts will be noticed and you will see your social media grow. If you’re still concerned about your social media, let’s get together and talk about it!
